We cordially invite you to the grand opening of the international exhibition GLASS SOUL: EXISTENCIA, which features works by 15 Czech artists. The exhibition reflects on the cycle of human life, its connection to nature, light, and the spiritual dimension of existence—universal themes that transcend us all. Through glass—a material that is both fragile and eternal—the artists open a dialogue about life, death, memory, and transformation. The works on display were created primarily using the fused glass technique, mostly at the Lhotský glassworks, supplemented by blown, cast, or cut glass and combinations with metal, stone, jewelry, and photography. The project also includes a unique collection of glass sculptures, urns, and other funerary artifacts, which, following its premiere in the Czech Republic, is now traveling abroad and will be presented for the first time in Spain. Artists: Tono Stano (*1960), Vladimíra Klumpar-Pavlik (*1954), Natalie Dufková (*1995), Antonín Střížek (*1959), Matyas Pavlik (*1984), Viktorie Beldová (*1987), Federico Díaz (*1971), Marek Číhal (*1986), Jakub Janovský (*1984), Jan Gemrot (*1983), Lucie Jindrák Skřivánková (*1982), Michal Šeba (*1980), Lucie Švitorková (*1985), Michal Macků (*1963), Jiří Šuhájek (b. 1943) Exhibition Curator: Martina Sikorová Partners: Czech Center Madrid, Embassy of the Czech Republic in Spain, MAVA, Glass Soul, Glaz Bridge, Glass Cluster

Czech glass shone at Milan Design Week 2025; GLASS SOUL brought funeral design with a soul to Milan. The GLASS SOUL exhibition, held as part of the prestigious Milan Design Week 2025 at Via Tortona 31, was a resounding success among industry professionals, the media, and visitors from among our international business partners. In the heart of the Tortona design district, we presented a unique project in funeral art that brought together painters, architects, jewelers, fashion designers, photographers, sculptors, and glassmakers. The result is a powerful and visually striking collection of urns, primarily crafted from hand-molded and hand-blown Czech glass, complemented by details from traditional craft workshops. Our participation in this prestigious exhibition confirmed that contemporary funeral design has a firm place in the international context and is capable of evoking deep emotions as well as generating commercial interest. Over the course of the week, the exhibition became a destination for many professionals from the fields of design, architecture, and the funeral industry. We established new business connections, garnered media attention, and confirmed that GLASS SOUL has the potential to reach a global audience. We would like to thank all our partners who supported our participation, and we look forward to the next phase of the project—not only in Europe but also beyond its borders. A key element of this exhibition was the Pardubice Crematorium, whose historic spaces offered a unique glimpse into the architecture associated with the rite of the final journey. Visitors had the opportunity to admire authentic details, such as the original cremation furnaces, made famous, for example, by the cult film *The Cremator*. The crematorium building, designed by architect Pavel Janák and dating back to 1923, was designated a national cultural monument in 2010. The monumental ceremonial hall, adorned with paintings by Professor J. Kysela, and striking architectural elements—including two statues of light-bearers by K. Lenhart—perfectly underscore the significance and uniqueness of this place. You can watch the report HERE.
