He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology. In 1989, he founded his own architectural firm, Fránek Architects, which has completed dozens of major projects in the Czech Republic and abroad. In addition to his work as a practicing architect, he has long been involved in teaching, and from 2012 to 2018 he served as dean of the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec.
His architecture is characterized by clean forms, an organic approach, and an emphasis on the relationship between a building and the surrounding landscape as well as people. A significant portion of his work consists of religious buildings, galleries, single-family homes, and public buildings, in which he combines technical precision with the poetics of light, material, and space. He naturally extends these principles to his original glass sculptures as well.
His works have been featured in solo exhibitions at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in Prague, the Brno House of Arts, the CCC Gallery in Beijing, and the Jaroslav Sutnar Gallery in Pilsen. He has lectured at universities in Europe, Asia, and North and South America, and his projects have won numerous prestigious architectural awards. For the Glass Soul collection, he created the pieces Pearl I and Pearl II, in which he translates architectural concepts into molten glass, producing works that straddle the boundaries between sculpture, light, and memory.
