Martin Janecký

Glass sculptor, founder of Janecký Studio Prague
Martin Janecký’s work is characterized by his mastery of the “inside sculpting” technique for shaping hot glass. His glass studio, Janecký Studio, focuses on sculptures that capture the portrait of a person in all their unique individuality. ‘s Resume: Martin Janecký began working with glass at the age of thirteen at his father’s company in the Czech Republic. After graduating from the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Nový Bor, he gained experience in South Africa, Sweden, the Netherlands, and especially in the U.S., where he studied at the Pilchuck Glass School under Richard Royal and William Morris. He soon became a sought-after teacher and lecturer. He served as a visiting artist in numerous glass programs, including the Corning Museum of Glass Studio, the Pilchuck Glass School, the Penland School of Crafts, and Toyama University. He is renowned for his masterful command of the technique of shaping glass from inside a hot bubble—known as “inside bubble sculpting”—which he uses to create unique sculptures. In 2019, he founded his own Janecký Studio in Prague’s Kampa district. He is considered one of the world’s finest glass sculptors. His works are exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.
