Vladimir 518

Vladimir 518 is a prominent figure in the graffiti and music scenes, with his work extending into the visual arts, set design, and architecture. Among other things, he is the author of numerous books, illustrations, and typographic designs. ’s Resume Vladimir 518 (born Vladimír Brož in 1978) is a multimedia artist and musician who emerged during the 1990s and 2000s as one of the most prominent figures in Prague’s graffiti scene. Throughout his career, he has created a large number of book illustrations, graphic designs, comics, theater set designs, and fine art. His art projects have been featured in many prestigious international magazines, such as the German LoDown, the Slovenian Stripburger, and the British Dazed & Confused. Between 2004 and 2005, he lived and worked in Leipzig, where he collaborated with the progressive typography group Black Red. As a set designer, he worked with the experimental theater group TOW, with whom he staged performances on many stages around the world. He is a member of the audiovisual collective SPAM, which focuses on digital art and the synchronization of video, sound, lasers, and lighting. In 2005, he illustrated a series of graphic stories for the architectural magazine ERA 21 about pre-revolutionary Czechoslovak architecture, thereby sparking great interest among the younger generation in these distinctive buildings. Between 2011 and 2015, he co-published the underground newspaper KIX with other Czech artists. Between 2006 and 2021, he was the leading figure in the organization BiggBoss, which produced book and music projects focused on contemporary urban culture and art. His best-known books include the trilogy *Kmeny* (2006, 2011, 2013), an analysis of contemporary Czech art titled *Obsese* (2015), and the extensive project *Architektura 58–89* (2022). He has exhibited his artwork both in the Czech Republic and abroad. He works primarily at the MeetFactory art space in Prague, which he helped found in 2008. In addition to his visual art, his musical work is also very well known. Vladimir 518 has released seven studio albums and three compilation mixtapes to date, filmed and directed a large number of music videos, and collaborated with many leading artists across various genres.
